I want to help but I can’t take in an animal at this time. Is there something else I can do?
Absolutely. Supporting Happy FurEver comes in many forms. Whether you donate an item from our Amazon Wishlist, contribute gently used blankets and towels, make a financial gift, volunteer your time, or simply help spread the word, every act of support helps provide care, comfort, and second chances for the dogs who call Happy FurEver home. Where did these animals come from?
Every dog arrives with a unique story, though we don’t always know every chapter that came before. Many of the dogs currently in our care were rescued from South Texas and surrounding areas. What matters most is what comes next—a safe place to heal, compassionate care, and the opportunity for a brighter future. You can learn more about each dog’s individual journey on their profile page.
How do you screen potential foster parents?
The wellbeing of our dogs is always our top priority. Prospective foster families complete a simple application and provide government-issued identification so we can ensure each dog is placed in a safe, supportive environment while they await their next chapter.
What if I’m not sure fostering is right for me?
That’s completely okay. Fostering is a meaningful commitment, and we encourage you to learn more before making a decision. We’ve gathered helpful resources that explain what fostering looks like, what to expect, and how you can determine whether it’s the right fit for your home and lifestyle.
Do I get paid to foster an animal?
Fostering is a volunteer opportunity and is not compensated financially. The reward comes from providing a dog with a safe, loving environment and playing an important role in their journey toward healing, growth, and ultimately a FurEver home.
I’m ready to adopt! How much does it cost?
The adoption fee is $205. This fee helps offset a portion of the costs associated with veterinary care, vaccinations, spay/neuter services, documentation, and the individualized care each dog receives while at Happy FurEver. Learn more about the adoption process and available dogs here.
What if I’m not ready to adopt but may want to adopt in the future?
We’d love to stay connected. Follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and other social channels to meet new arrivals, celebrate adoption stories, and learn more about the dogs currently in our care. You’ll also be among the first to hear about volunteer opportunities, donation needs, and ways to support the rescue community.
Why is Happy FurEver selective about the dogs it accepts?
Happy FurEver is intentionally small by design. We believe every dog deserves individualized attention, compassionate care, and the time needed to heal and thrive. By carefully managing our capacity, we’re able to provide the high level of care that sets Happy FurEver apart and ensures every dog receives the support they need.

What to Expect When Adopting
Our adoption process is designed to create successful, lasting matches between dogs and families. Our time getting to know the dogs at our sanctuary is key to understanding their needs and which family will be a good fit.
Once we’ve determined it’s a good match, we’ll guide you through the final steps of the adoption process. Depending on the circumstances, adoptions can be completed in as little as one day or up to a week. Our goal is simple: to ensure every dog finds a loving FurEver home where they can thrive.
